The Aletschglacier with its 170 square kilometer surface and its length of approximately 25 kilometers is unique. The Aletschforest - a nature reserve with the highest situated pine forest in Europe (approx. 11 km) - and the moor in the region of Simplon (25 km) offer a great variety of hiking routes.
Possible excursion destinations include: The Massa Gorge with the hiking route Belalp, the Goms with its numerous cross-country skiing and hiking possibilities, Zermatt, Saastal, Lötschental.
The area also has much to offer culturally and historically, for example: the Stockalper Castle with its local history museum in Brig or the Tourbillon Castle in Sion.
